BIRMINGHAM stunned reigning National League Champions Cradley in a 46-44 victory in a last heat decider.

The Surestop Brummies fought hard in an incident packed meeting which was full of spectacular racing in front of a bumper crowd.

Despite missing out on the Travel Plus Tours Trophy on aggregate (107-73), the result is a massive confidence booster for the team as they go into their final challenge meeting agains Stoke on Sunday.

No.1 Adam Ellis bounced back from a tough night at Perry Barr last week in perfect fashion with a 14+1 paid maximum.

Said Ellis: "Every single rider upped their game tonight and we deserved that win.

"We worked hard as a team and helped each other out and it's great to pull off a result like that.

"Me and Tom (Perry) knew what we'd got to do in Heat 13 and we got the 5-1 and from there we could see we'd got them rattled.

"We knew we could go out and do it again in the last race and it was an amazing feeling to pull off a 5-1 that meant we won the match."

Ellis was backed up superbly by club captain Tom Perry who scored double figures once again (12+1).

Sam Chapman (7) and Zach Wajtknecht (6+1) both put in solid displays - and both picked up their first race wins of the season in breathtaking fashion in Heats 2 & 12.

Adam Kirby deserved even more than the four points he did score - but was involved in two nasty looking first bend collisions.

Alex Wilson (2+1) and Harvie Banks (1+1) both gave it 100% effort and their points proved vital to the final result.
