BIRMINGHAM boss Phil Morris has paid tribute to his side ahead of Friday’s tricky trip to Lakeside.

Morris was talking after seeing the Selco Brummies secure a well deserved consolation point from a 48-42 defeat at league leaders Swindon on Thursday night.

Now he wants to see a repeat display in Essex where they will be looking to build on their win against the Hammers in mid-week.

He said: “Its a great point for us and one we would have taken before the start, although we are a little disappointed after pushing them so close.

“But great credit to the guys, they all got stuck in and thanks to Seb in Heat 15 for taking gate 3 when I had to put Bjarne off gate 1 to make sure we didn't lose a 5-1.

“Any points we get from these three away matches at the two top teams and the trickiest track in the league are a real bonus and I'm really pleased with the boys.”

Bjarne Pedersen has delayed his departure to Italy for this weekend’s Grand Prix in Terenzano in order to be available for the Lakeside meeting. He will fly out early on Saturday for Round 8 of the SGP series.

The Dane had one of his best meetings in Selco Brummies colours with a 16-point haul and he had superb support from reserve Martin Smolinski with 13+2 and former Swindon man Seb Ulamek carded 8+1.

SWINDON 48: Jason Doyle 12+1, Troy Batchelor 12+1, Hans Andersen 8+1, Nick Morris 5, Dawid Lampart 4, Simon Stead 4, Peter Kildemand 3+2.

SELCO BRUMMIES 42: Bjarne Pedersen 16, Martin Smolinski 13+2, Sebastian Ulamek 8+1, Josh Auty 4, Ricky Ashworth 1, Kyle Newman 0, Danny King R/R.
