RYE HOUSE 52 BRUMMIES 38

BRUMMIES will have to be on top form at Perry Barr in Wednesday's Premier Trophy semi-final second leg as they try to overturn a 14-point deficit.

They held Rye House to a much narrower margin for most of the first leg at Hoddesdon on Saturday, but the Rockets pulled clear in the closing stages.

Tomas Suchanek proved to be an an astute choice of guest for the injured Ben Powell as he won his first three races, with the scores level at 24-24 after eight heats.

But the Rockets took a 5-1 in Heat 9 and as Suchanek faded the Brummies fell away with only Jason Lyons and Ulrich Ostergaard able to threaten the home riders on a consistent basis.

Even they were upstaged by Steve Boxall, though, in Heat 15 - and with 17-year-old Tai Woffinden also splitting the visitors' big two in the last race, a serious points chase is required on Wednesday.

RYE HOUSE: Steve Boxall 12+1, Tommy Allen 9, Tai Woffinden 8+2, Adam Roynon 8+1, Chris Neath 8, Luke Bowen 5+1, Ray Morton 2+1

BIRMINGHAM: Ulrich Ostergaard 12, Jason Lyons 10, Tomas Suchanek 10, Emiliano Sanchez 3, Lee Smart 2, Jon Armstrong 1, Aidan Collins 0.
