BIRMINGHAM suffered a thumping 66-24 defeat at Elite League title hopefuls Eastbourne last night.

Graham Drury’s men were put to the sword by an Eagles team who made it three wins on the trot at their tricky Arlington track. They had already dispatched of strongly fancied Wolverhampton and Belle Vue.

From the moment Lukas Dryml was allowed back in the rerun of the first race despite clearly causing the stoppage things went against the Brummies.

To rub salt into Birmingham’s wounds, he won the rerun and partnered Bjarne Pedersen for a maximum over Ales Dryml with an angry Kryzsztof Kasprzak trailing at the back.

Ben Barker and Daniel Nermark both suffered falls in the first half of the meeting but were thankfully able to pick themselves up and continue.

And both Danny King and Kasprzak were used as tactical rides but they failed to beat an Eastbourne rider for double points.

EASTBOURNE: Joonas Kylmakorpi 13+2, Lukas Dryml 12, Simon Gustafsson 12, Lewis Bridger 11+1, Bjarne Pedersen 8+2, Cameron Woodward 6+3, Lubos Tomicek 4+2

BIRMINGHAM: Ben Barker 6, Sam Masters 4+2, Daniel King 4+1, Daniel Nermark, Ales Dryml 3, Krzysztof Kasprzak 2+1, Kyle Hughes 1.
