NICK IN AT NO.1

Wednesday November 30, 2022
BIRMINGHAM have pulled off a powerhouse signing with Aussie ace Nick Morris joining as their brand new No.1.

The 28-year-old has been one of the Championship's top performers in recent seasons and became available following Leicester's step-up to the top-flight last month.

Morris scored over 200 league points for the Lions this year, winning over half of his outings and also enjoyed a solid season with Wolverhampton in the Premiership.

The former Australian international arrives at Perry Barr on a 10.13 average and team manager Laurence Rogers is confident Morris will provide the Curtis Sport Brummies with something they have been lacking since moving back into the professional leagues in 2019.

"Nick is what I'd describe as an out-and-out No.1 in the Championship," Rogers said.

"Particularly last season, as a team we got ourselves into a great position of getting something out of a lot of meetings.

"But when it came to Heats 13 and 15, that's where it was often lost for us and as a club we knew that was something we had to try and put right.

"Nick doesn't know what pressure is "“ he's shown his class at this level, as well as in the Premiership, for a number of years now and he'll be a match winner for us on a number of occasions I'm sure.

"I think Nick will bring a lot to this year's team and despite only being 28, he's still got some real invaluable experience.

"He's represented his country at the Speedway World Cup, he's won league titles and Knockout Cups and let's not forget he also won the Championship Riders' Individual in 2017 as well.

"We're really looking forward to seeing Nick in Brummies colours and I'm sure he's in for a fabulous season."

Morris joins fellow Aussies Justin Sedgmen and James Pearson in the Birmingham line-up for 2023 alongside Stefan Nielsen who became a full club asset earlier this week.
